All public schools must provide Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to students in grades K-3.
Harmony SEL™ curriculum is supplemental to CVA’s core academic courses and is optional for families to use. Harmony Curriculum™ provides Pre-K to 6th grade instructional tools to support healthy relationships and build social and emotional skills. Available at no cost, the program offers a flexible, easy to use curriculum that is available for families to access through the Harmony Online Learning Portal. Lessons are segmented by grade level and are intended to be developmentally appropriate for students at each level. Please use the grade level that you believe is most appropriate for your student(s).
The guide to registering for Harmony SEL and using the online portal is attached to this article.
According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL), SEL is an integral part of education and human development. It can help all young people and adults thrive personally and academically, develop and maintain positive relationships, and become lifelong learners. Harmony SEL™ uses the “CASEL 5” to establish learning standards and competencies used in their lessons. These competencies are Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making.
